ALTG awarded $12 million in funding

The ALTG is pleased to announce over $12 million in funding has been successfully awarded to ALTG, NHMRC Clinical Trial Centre and the Australian Genomic Cancer Medicine Centre for the ASPiRATION project. In this ground-breaking precision medicine study, led by ALTG President A/Prof Nick Pavlakis and ALTG Scientific Advisory Committee Chair, Prof Ben Solomon, ASPiRATION will explore the benefit of routine comprehensive genomic profiling in 1000 newly-diagnosed metastatic, non-squamous, NSCLC patients in Australia. The enhanced genomic profiling will assist in personalising patient care by matching patients to targeted treatments as early as possible to improve patient outcomes.

Three year funding approval

After two years of temporary contract extensions from Cancer Australia for the Australasian Lung Cancer Trials Group (ALTG) funding, Cancer Australia recently called for applications for the Cancer Australia Support for Cancer Clinical Trials Program 2018-2021 Grant Funding for Multisite Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Groups. The ALTG is delighted to announce that our application to the Support for Cancer Clinical Trials Program 2018-2021 has been successful. The funding opportunity is $1.5million across 3 years and will commence 1 July, 2018. This significant milestone allows the ALTG in collaboration with the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre to build on the Cancer Australia initiative by implementing new strategies to foster interest in clinical trial participation, increase multidisciplinary membership and facilitate membership collaboration with the goal to increase enrolment of patients in ALTG’s trials.
