ALTG awarded $12 million in funding

The ALTG is pleased to announce over $12 million in funding has been successfully awarded to ALTG, NHMRC Clinical Trial Centre and the Australian Genomic Cancer Medicine Centre for the ASPiRATION project. In this ground-breaking precision medicine study, led by ALTG President A/Prof Nick Pavlakis and ALTG Scientific Advisory Committee Chair, Prof Ben Solomon, ASPiRATION will explore the benefit of routine comprehensive genomic profiling in 1000 newly-diagnosed metastatic, non-squamous, NSCLC patients in Australia. The enhanced genomic profiling will assist in personalising patient care by matching patients to targeted treatments as early as possible to improve patient outcomes.

Future ALTG Meeting Dates and the 2016 ALTG Lung Cancer Symposium

All Committee Meeting Dates and other Events are regularly updated on the website. New in this issue:

ALTG Member Meetings

Dates for the next two ALTG Member Meetings have now been set, in the third quarter of 2016 (October 21) and first quarter of 2017 (February 10). Member Meetings are a fantastic opportunity to network and share experiences with colleagues and in the past have been very successful in generating new clinical trial concepts. As the group’s pipeline of active trials and concepts in development grows, the agenda of these twice-yearly Member Meetings will be determined by the group’s particular needs. This may be for generation and brainstorming around new study ideas; in-depth development and review of more developed concepts; continuing education or discussion of other specific ALTG projects.

2016 ALTG Lung Cancer Symposium

This year the ALTG is also launching a new educational initiative as part of the group’s commitment to the translation of clinical research into practice. The 2016 ALTG Lung Cancer Symposium will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney on November 11-12. Registrations will open after the ALCC. Contact Ros for more information.
