ALTG awarded $12 million in funding

The ALTG is pleased to announce over $12 million in funding has been successfully awarded to ALTG, NHMRC Clinical Trial Centre and the Australian Genomic Cancer Medicine Centre for the ASPiRATION project. In this ground-breaking precision medicine study, led by ALTG President A/Prof Nick Pavlakis and ALTG Scientific Advisory Committee Chair, Prof Ben Solomon, ASPiRATION will explore the benefit of routine comprehensive genomic profiling in 1000 newly-diagnosed metastatic, non-squamous, NSCLC patients in Australia. The enhanced genomic profiling will assist in personalising patient care by matching patients to targeted treatments as early as possible to improve patient outcomes.

ALTG volunteers to support review of MRFF applications

The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Low Survival Cancers and Diseases (LSCD) Grant Opportunity was announced in January 2018 in response to the Senate Select Committee into Funding for Research into Cancers with Low Survival Rates. Applications closed on 18 April 2018 and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is currently assembling a team of experts to assess the applications received and looking for experts in lung cancer who also have expertise in clinical trials research; Dr Haryana Dhillon has volunteered to join this review group. An ALTG member since 2004, Dr Dhillon is a Research Fellow in Cancer Survivorship at the Centre for Medical Psychology and Evidence-based Decision-making (CeMPED) University of Sydney. She is also a member of the Board of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) and Council, and chair of the Survivorship Group of COSA. The panel meeting is scheduled to take place on 26-28 June 2018 at the NHMRC offices in Canberra.
