ALTG awarded $12 million in funding

The ALTG is pleased to announce over $12 million in funding has been successfully awarded to ALTG, NHMRC Clinical Trial Centre and the Australian Genomic Cancer Medicine Centre for the ASPiRATION project. In this ground-breaking precision medicine study, led by ALTG President A/Prof Nick Pavlakis and ALTG Scientific Advisory Committee Chair, Prof Ben Solomon, ASPiRATION will explore the benefit of routine comprehensive genomic profiling in 1000 newly-diagnosed metastatic, non-squamous, NSCLC patients in Australia. The enhanced genomic profiling will assist in personalising patient care by matching patients to targeted treatments as early as possible to improve patient outcomes.

ALTG Strategic Plan

The Management Advisory Committee (MAC) met in Brisbane in February to discuss the group’s strategic priorities. With limited resources it’s important for the group to focus its efforts on activities that are central to achieving its mission:

To reduce the incidence, morbidity and mortality of lung and other thoracic cancers and improve the quality of life of patients, their carers and families in Australia and New Zealand by coordinating and facilitating high quality clinical research

The group’s objectives and initiatives that underpin them were also reviewed and confirmed. The strategic plan provides a framework for operating while feedback from our member survey will help to identify specific activities that are of most relevance to the group.
